Let’s say you are designing a project for an assisted living facility, a day care, a dorm, a fire station, a church, or a commercial office…idea

  • And let’s say you want to add a kitchen hood for a small 4 burner stove…
  • And let’s say you don’t want any trouble with the inspector…
  • And let’s say you don’t want a full-bore Class I Kitchen Hood…

If a Broan type residential range hood gets scheduled, there’s a good chance the inspector is going to flag it because of the commercial nature of the project and the existing standards of NFPA96, NFPA 17A and The I-Code requirement for a UL300 Hood and Fire Suppression system. If the hood is on site, a fire suppression system is going to need to be field retrofitted to make that system pass an inspection. This can delay project completion and add significant, unforeseen cost to the budget.

IS THERE AN ALTERNATIVE?

Here’s a new Air Flow product from a company called Denlar. It’s a kitchen hood with an integral fire suppression system that meets all of the theory and intent behind the larger, commercial alternative and is the basis behind several new code requirements that address this exact scenario.
